About the Scents: Trophy Advantage Hybrids are a unique blend of synthetic and organic compounds which are designed to smell like fresh, natural deer urine. They stay fresh indefinitely in their container and when sprayed on natural or mock scrapes, they break down naturally, just like natural deer urine. They contain no natural deer urine or feces which help the spread of Chronic Waste Disease. They smell very mild compared to natural scent but don't be deceived, once they are sprayed on natural or mock scrapes a chemical reaction between the scent and the bacteria in the ground takes place and the scents break down and get stronger. The scents reactivate when they are rained upon and these products are excellent for drip bags and scent dispensers. Mixing and Storing: I use clean 1 gallon plastic milk jugs to store the scent in once it is added to water. To clean your jugs, place about ½ teaspoon of baking soda in the jug, fill with 1 gallon of warm water, shake and rinse with cold water. Pour the entire contents of the scent pouch into the jug and fill with 1 gallon of cold water. Shake the jug well and let the scent sit overnight to allow the chemicals to blend well. Always shake the scent well before pouring the product into smaller spray bottles to take a field with you. I use regular tap water to mix with the scent provided your tap water doesn't have allot of sulphur in it giving it a strong rotten egg smell. In that case I would purchase a gallon of distilled water. Store you mixed scent in a cool dry place marking each jug with the name of the scent in it and keep the containers in a safe place out of the reach of children. Remember, there is no shelf life on our products. What you don't use this year will still be good for next year. The Perfect Set-up: If you keep one thing in mind when using Trophy Advantage
Hybrids you will be very successful with the results. You're
taking your worst enemy, the deer's sense of smell, and turning
it into your best friend. If you put our scents out in a position
to blow into an area such as a well used travel corridor, a good
bedding area with a high doe population, or at the edge of a
well used food source, you will be very successful. I strongly
recommend hunting upwind of these areas, placing the scent out
crosswind and letting the prevailing winds take the scent right
where you want it. If you keep these thoughts in your mind, you
will be amazed at the results. ![]()
Applying the Scents: You've did your scouting, placed your stands upwind of the areas you want to hunt and now it is time to start hunting. The Hybrid Scrape Conditioner, the Hybrid Hot Doe and Dominant Buck urines are all applied the same way. The only difference is they are used at different times of the rut. You want to make 2 to 3 mock scrapes in front of your stand crosswind as shown in the diagram above. Use rubber gloves and boots when making your mock scrapes as well as a rake to work the ground up. Clear and work the ground up in a circle approximately 18 to 20 inches in diameter. Make sure you have a licking branch above each scrape and remember our products work just as well on any natural scrapes you may find. Have your spray bottle on fine mist and spray the entire scrape area. It doesn't take very much scent at all. Spray the scrapes down once a week following the system above and work the ground up with a rake each time you apply the scent. Studies have shown that working the ground up on a scrape is just as important as the scent you are placing on it. Also spray 3 to 4 small trees crosswind, about 3 foot off the ground with either the Hybrid Scrape Conditioner, the Hybrid Hot Doe or the Dominant Buck, which ever scent you are using at the time. This will help to get the scent up in the air a little better and help in the coning process. Attach a scent wick to each of the licking branches and using a fine mist in your spray bottle, spray down each of the wicks with the Hybrid Forehead Conditioner. Which Scents to Use and When: Hybrid Scrape Conditioner. This product is designed to start using prior to your hunting season even opening. We recommend starting the use of this product about a week to a week and a half before season. Just spray the mock scrapes down once a week as described above and you can use this product for the entire season. Also spray 3 to 4 trees down crosswind about 3 foot off the ground to help get the scent into the air. Hybrid Hot Doe and Hybrid Dominant Buck. I don't start using these 2 products until I see the first bucks buzzing the bedding areas looking for the first does coming into estrous. Spray the mock or natural scrapes down once a week as described above and I use this product for the Pre-rut, Rut and Post Rut. Also spray 3 to 4 trees down crosswind about 3 foot off the ground to help get the scent into the air. The only other advice I can give you is have confidence in the scent, make sure you use the scent to your advantage by setting it up crosswind and a little light rattling and grunting is extremely effective with the scent. Because you are upwind, and the deer are so attracted to the scent, they have fewer tendencies to hang up on you. Good Luck and Please send pictures . Gary Parrigan |
